Meghan Markle verraste iedereen met haar bezoek aan een honkbalwedstrijd

Officieel is onze grote vriendin Meghan Markle nog met zwangerschapsverlof. Toch liet ze baby Archie gisteren even bij een oppas (Queen Elizabeth wellicht?) om een honkbalwedstrijd te bezoeken. Samen met hubbie prins Harry verraste ze iedereen met haar aanwezigheid in Londen.

Een belangrijke honkbalwedstrijd is misschien niet de eerste locatie waar je de Duchess of Sussex met haar man zou verwachten. Toch hebben Meghan en Harry een logische reden om het team aan te juichen.

Meghan Markle maakt verrassingsbezoek

We zien de hertogin van Sussex de laatste tijd niet op veel plekken verschijnen. Dat is natuurlijk logisch, want Meghan is na de bevalling van de royal baby nog met zwangerschapsverlof. Afgelopen weekend trotseerde ze echter de hitte met Harry om naar een Major League honkbalwedstrijd in Londen te gaan.

De Bosten Red Sox speelden tegen de New York Yankees in het Olympic Park stadium in Londen om de eerste Major League Baseball game in Europa te spelen. Dat is natuurlijk nogal een big deal voor Groot-Britannië en veel mensen kwamen erop af.

Tonight’s highly anticipated game between the #Yankees and #RedSox took place at London stadium, Olympic Park. The @WeAreInvictusGames, of which His Royal Highness is Founding Patron, has been selected as charity partner for the @MLB 2019 series. The Invictus Games Foundation is the international charity that oversees the development of the Invictus Games, an international adaptive multi-sport event in which wounded, injured or sick armed service personnel and veterans participate. It celebrates the power of sport in recovery and how it can help, physically or psychologically, those suffering from injuries or illness. The word ‘invictus’ means ‘unconquered’ – it embodies the fighting spirit of the competitors. As part of the partnership, the Invictus Games Foundation have a team participating in London’s #Softball60, the social softball series built for the city and targeted to introduce the sport to new audiences and demonstrate that it is an inclusive sport. On this #ArmedForcesDay, tonight’s event was also a chance for Their Royal Highnesses to shine a light on the men and women here in the UK and around the world who have sacrificed so much for their country. De reden dat Harry en Meghan aanwezig waren

Naast dat het een grote gebeurtenis is, had prins Harry nog een extra reden om de wedstrijd te bekijken. De wedstrijd was namelijk in samenwerking met zijn organisatie genaamd Invictus Games Foundation. De Duke en Duchess of Sussex waren dus meer dan welkom om de spelers te ontmoeten.

Ondanks de verschrikkelijke hitte zag Meghan er natuurlijk weer uit om door een ringetje te halen. Ze droeg een zwart T-shirt jurkje van Stella McCartney en combineerde dit met zwarte platte schoenen. Harry promootte zijn organisatie door de merch van de Invictus Games Foundation te dragen tijdens het evenement.

Ondanks dat royal baby Archie niet aanwezig was, werd er wel aan hem gedacht. Zowel de Red Sox als de Yankees gaven Harry en Meghan een shirtje voor Archie waar zijn naam op staat. Té schattig.
